Message Regarding Coronavirus (Covid-19)

Following the relaxation of some of the current restrictions regarding Public worship, St. Christopher’s was re-opened for Public worship from Sunday 5th July 2020.

At present there will continue to be 2 Sunday masses: 08:30 and 10:30 as it was before the lockdown. They will both be said with a short address; the 10:30am will have no hymns and will not be sung and numbers will be limited. If it is the case the numbers exceed, there may be an extra celebration introduced in the short term. Holy Communion will be offered in one kind only and the peace will not be shared physically. Children’s Church will not be re-starting before September at the very earliest.

The Wednesday midweek mass will be as usual at 10:30am but the Thursday mass at 7pm will not be re-instated for the present time.

Instructions regarding baptisms have been received so they can now take place with certain restrictions, weddings also can take place subject to limited numbers and restrictions.

The Parish office will re-open from Tuesday the 28th of July; however, an appointments system will be in place to minimise social contact. There will be 3 time slots on a Tuesday evening for baptism and wedding enquiries: 6:30pm, 6:50pm and 7:10pm. Fr. Martin will need to be contacted on the Vicarage telephone to arrange an appointment slot. Please do not just turn up without an appointment.

UPDATE: 30/09/2020

Following the recent announcement by HM Government concerning the rising infection rate of Covid 19 and guidelines issued by the Church of England, the situation regarding weddings and baptisms have changed.

Whilst the numbers for Sunday Services and funerals have not been changed and remain at 30, Weddings are now restricted to 15 and Baptisms to 6 people only from the 23rd September. This did not include Blackpool initially but from Saturday the 26th of September, Blackpool has fallen in line with National guidelines.

If you have already set a date and time for your Wedding or Baptism, please ring Fr. Martin to inform him if you are proceeding or not.

Should the situation change again, updates will be posted.

Safety Measures:

There is a one way system in operation and hand sanitation stations are also provided, together with soap and hot water in both disabled toilets. There are also some pews taped-off and out of use, to set the two metre social distances.

Further details will be posted as they are known, on this site and the Parish Facebook page.
All good wishes, and continue to stay safe.
Fr. Martin
